Inside the House
Our 60 Year Old Matchbook Collection 🩵
A 60 year matchbook collection finds a new home with House of Coop, inspiring living room wall art, a vintage gumball display and our own matches.
This giant glass jar of matchbooks is one of my favorite things in our house, and it’s something I’ll keep forever.

Jacob found it on Facebook Marketplace three years ago. It belonged to a woman who had spent 60 years collecting matchbooks from her travels, restaurants, hotels, weddings, and anywhere else she could pick one up. It was so cool to see how many places she had been just by looking through them.
I’m not sure why she decided to sell it, but when Jacob brought it home, I knew how special it was. I messaged her and told her I would cherish it forever.

I laid out towels, dumped everything out, and went through every single matchbook, sorting through the colors and designs to choose my favorites for three pieces of wall art. They were the first things we hung in our living room when we moved into our house, and they’re still there today.
We’ve also filled a vintage gumball machine with handfuls of them, and somehow this jar is still this full. I never counted, but there are definitely hundreds!
I messaged her and told her I would cherish it forever.
A little House of Coop inspiration
Our love for matchbooks even inspired us to create a limited edition run of House of Coop matches. You can purchase them during any of our Whatnot shows while supplies last.
This collection has become such a conversation piece in our home. There’s always something different to spot in the jar, and we’ve been loving it ever since Jacob brought it home! 💜🩵
