A Little Inspiration

Let’s talk vintage quilts!

Explore creative ways to give vintage quilts a second life, from bags and pillows to wall art, stockings and keepsakes.

Colorful vintage star patchwork quilt with gingham and floral fabrics in pink, red, green, blue and yellow

Before we started selling vintage, we thought quilts were something you folded up at the end of the bed or tucked away in a cedar chest.

We had no idea how many beautiful ways people were giving them a second life!

Every quilt tells a story

We’ve come across so many incredible vintage quilts over the years. Every stitch, pattern, and fabric choice reflects the hands that made it, often decades ago. That’s what makes them so special.

These inspiration photos aren’t our own, but we wanted to share the creative ways people are keeping that history alive.

A second life for beautiful textiles

Some collectors love preserving quilts just as they are. Others enjoy repurposing them into pieces that can be used and loved every day.

The possibilities go well beyond the bed:

  • Wear and carry: jackets and tote bags.
  • Make a home feel personal: pillows, table runners, and wall art.
  • Celebrate the season: stockings and Christmas tree skirts.
  • Create a keepsake: even teddy bears can give a beautiful textile a new purpose.

We love seeing all the thoughtful ways people honor a quilt’s history while making it part of everyday life.

How do you feel about repurposing vintage quilts?

Once you start noticing vintage quilts, you’ll begin to see them everywhere. We hope you will too!

🧵 Do you prefer keeping them exactly as they were, or do you love seeing them transformed into something new?

If you’ve repurposed one yourself, share a photo in the comments on our original Facebook post. We’d love to see your creativity!
